The course will cover
How to lead a Back Fitness Group
Management of group dynamics using interactivity and humour as aids
One-to-one verbal assessment to include details of history of the present condition, lifestyle, working environment and attitude to the problem
Postural exercise – make it fun and improve practical core stability
Effective home exercise regime
Sharing with the patients the "how-to…" of backs
Management of pain and CBT principles
Setting up the Hub for multi-disciplinary involvement
Outcomes
Be trained to lead Back Fitness Groups as required by NICE (8 sessions recommended)
Be confident with interactive groups
Own a How-to-Do practical manual for future use
Provide a programme attractive to PCT’s for its cost effectiveness and reduce waiting lists
Use an evidence based programme to fill an important gap in the musculoskeletal service for low back pain
Run a flexible yet formalised programme that keeps your patients coming back for more
